For Sunday

Reading of the Law of God
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Matthew 5.9

Confession of Sin
Our Father, we recognize that You have called us to be people committed to peace. We are to pursue peace with all. We are to be the means by which the lost find peace with You as we live and speak the Gospel before them. But we are often satisfied with a truce with others instead of real peace. We find ourselves mute before the lost so that they do not hear about the Prince of Peace. We find that there is too much of our lives that is not committed to peacemaking. We come again asking for forgiveness for our sins and for change. We are bold to come only because of Jesus, our Savior. Amen.

Declaration of Pardon
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1.8-9

Almighty God, who in Jesus Christ has given us a kingdom that cannot be destroyed, forgive us our sins, open our eyes to God's truth, strengthen us to do God's will and give us the joy of his kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The Book of Common Prayer
