For Sunday

Reading of the Law of God
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6.19-21

Confession of Sin
Our Father, Your Law exposes our hearts. So much of what we treasure is tied to this world. This is short-sighted since all this will pass away. But it is worse than that. It is evil since You are to be our chief treasure. Forgive us for insulting You in this way. Change our hearts so that we may value You most. We ask this through Jesus, our Redeemer. Amen.

Declaration of Pardon
The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. 1 Timothy 1.15

May the God of all healing and forgiveness draw us to himself, and cleanse us from all our sins that we may behold the glory of his Son, the Word made flesh, Jesus Christ our Lord.
The Book of Common Prayer
