‘How would you define the Reformed faith?’

I recently received an email from someone thinking about moving to Erie. One factor in his decision has to do with finding a good church. In this he is wise. In his email he asked me this simple[!] question. ‘How would you define the reformed faith?’ This is what I wrote to him.

From this morning's Bible reading

'Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.' Matthew 6:1

So, what's my motivation for doing things the right way? A reward?!? That doesn't sound very Reformed.
