The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe. Proverbs 18.10
This verse assumes something that too many often overlook. We live in an unsafe place. That's why we need to run into that strong tower. And if you think about it, it makes sense to say we live in an unsafe place. For one thing, we have an enemy, Satan, who is continually prowling about so that he can get us. Add to that the sin and death that are all around us. We are not safe here. But those who are wise are kept safe by running to the strong tower. In this, the proverb is describing how we are to appeal to who God is (His name) in order to be kept safe. So, we can appeal to Him as our Savior or Comforter, or Defender and more. When we do that we will be kept safe. Thanks be to God that this is true for us.
