Psalm 41
David is in trouble. He is sick, and apparently in danger of dying. To make matters worse, there are those who are eager to see him dead. And if that weren't bad enough, a good friend has turned his back on him. David calls out to Yahweh to rescue him. And why should He respond to David's appeal? David points to his own integrity. And he does that even after admitting his sin! (See verse 4.) Part of his integrity is that he deals honestly with his sin. We can, likewise, appeal to God and expect Him to respond graciously not because we are sinless people, but rather because of our integrity in dealing with our sin by repentance and faith.
