For Sunday

Reading of the Law of God
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. Exodus 20.8-11

Confession of Sin
Our Father, we hear Your Law. We know what You require. And yet, all too often, we follow the ways of the world. We profane the Sabbath and fill it with things You do not want. We ask that You would forgive us. We ask that You would teach our hearts the blessings of obedience to this command. We ask that You would teach our hearts to submit to You. We ask this only through Jesus, our Savior. Amen.

Declaration of Pardon
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1.8-9

May almighty God, who sent his Son into the world to save sinners, bring you his pardon and peace, now and for ever.
The Book of Common Prayer
