For Sunday

Reading of the Law of God
But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. 2 Peter 3.13-14

Confession of Sin
Father, I thank You for the great promise of the coming new heavens and new earth where life will be so very different and so much better. I hear Your command for me to prepare for its coming by diligently pursuing purity and peace. I regret that my zeal for these things is not what it should be. I confess that I am satisfied with a level of piety that doesn’t satisfy You. Forgive me my sin. Grant grace so that this would be a priority for me so that I, Your child, might please You, my Father. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Declaration of Pardon
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53.6

May God who loved the world so much that he sent his Son to be our Saviour forgive us our sins and make us holy to serve him in the world, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Book of Common Prayer
