For Sunday

Reading of the Law of God
For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1.5-8

Confession of Sin
Our Father, as we look at this list of qualities we thank You for progress made over the years. You have changed us greatly. But at the same time, we regret our failure to make every effort to develop these virtues to a greater degree. Forgive us for our sin in this and grant us Your powerful grace so that we might work hard to mature in these ways and thus bring honor to our beloved Savior, Jesus. Amen

Declaration of Pardon
I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins. Isaiah 43.25
Almighty God, who in Jesus Christ has given us a kingdom that cannot be destroyed, forgive us our sins, open our eyes to God's truth, strengthen us to do God's will and give us the joy of his kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord. The Book of Common Prayer
