Shout for joy in the LORD, O you righteous!
Praise befits the upright. Psalms 33:1
I'm guessing that in response to my last musings on Psalm 33 some of you were thinking, 'How is it possible that I can be labeled 'righteous'? Look at my sin! It's everywhere. I can't be one of the righteous.' But this is not thinking according to the Gospel. Remember ‘the Great Exchange’. Jesus has taken all your sin upon Himself and has given you all His perfection, all His righteousness. Since this is who you now are, the Father is free to treat you as righteous. So, be who you are. See yourself as you really are before the Father. Pray like the righteous pray. Pray like the psalmists. And when the Spirit points out some sin, repent of it, and come again to Jesus for forgiveness and change. And then, return to living as the righteous person that you are.
