I discovered this at Desiring God. It's an excerpt of a letter that Adoniram Judson wrote to a missionary society about becoming a missionary. The full letter is here.
Never lay up money for yourselves or your families. Trust in God from day to day, and verily you shall be fed.
I don't suppose missionary organizations include this in their manuals today. But note that the goal is to 'be fed'. There is here no talk of retirement or cruises or golf or ease. 'Trust God ... and you shall be fed.' How refreshing!
