Hating Life Here

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him. John 12:24-26

What striking words for me to ponder. Here is the call to die, to hate my life in this world. And that hurts. But this is merely to follow Jesus who hated His life in this world and willingly went to the cross as a result. Should my life be easy? But what a promise attached to it. If I follow Jesus here I will be with Him there. Isn't that reward enough? But on top of that 'the Father will honor him'. Amazing!
