In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as
in all riches.
Psalms 119:14
Now this is one very
striking statement. Do you think that the psalmist meant it? I think that we
have to say that he did. Imagine that: to delight in, to revel in, to be
enthralled by what the Scriptures have to say more than a very large bank
account.
But if you think
about it, that actually makes a lot of sense. There are large problems that
wealth cannot solve, important goals that it cannot cause you to achieve. And
one day, however much wealth a person may have will disappear. It will be
completely lost to him. '…we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take
anything out of the world.'
But the wisdom of
the Word is something that provides dividends for this life as well as for the
next.
Here's a statement
to live.
