A Prayer

Father,

Life is full of change. Some people enter our lives while others leave. Our bodies grow strong and then they weaken. We know just a little and then we know more. And then we begin to forget what we know.

There is much change. And yet, You are always the same. You are Yahweh and change not. And that makes the difference. That's what gives us a sense of stability in this ever-changing world, this ever-changing life. That's what gives us hope. In the midst of all the change, You are our God. You are the foundation for our lives, a sure and steady foundation. You have promised that to us and You always keep Your promises.

We are grateful for this gift that is ours because of the Gospel of Jesus. It saves us from living like so many others. It saves us from trying to save ourselves from the trauma of change and especially from the fear of change. You are our comfort when the question pops up in our heads, 'What's going to happen next?' We can answer, 'Whatever it is, I will be able to face it and deal with it because my faithful God is always with me. He never changes'. What a comfort that is, Father. And we are so grateful to You for it.

But we need Your help, Father. We need You to give us the grace to believe in Your stability. There is so much attacking that belief, some of it human, some of it demonic. So, we look to You. Make us believe in Your stability as our God, especially when life seems so unstable. We need Your grace. It is as You feed us with more grace that we are able to live well. We are able to live without fear of what may happen next. We are able to live with a sure hope, because You are the God, the only God, who always keeps His promises. Thank You, Father, for being such an awesome God for us. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
