Scripture to Meditate On

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. Psalm 103.8-12

This Scripture nicely divides into three sections.

First, there are the qualities of Yahweh that are great blessings for sinners.

The Lord is
merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and
abounding in steadfast love.

Second, the psalmist explains how these qualities will show in terms of what Yahweh will not do to us.

He will
not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
He does
not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.

Last, the writer points to the reasons why Yahweh will not act in these ways toward us.

For
as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

And now a question for you to ponder and apply. How should a Christian feel after he has repented of his sins? And only using what's in this Psalm, why should he feel that way?
