Psalm 53
This Psalm is quite
the reminder of reality. We live in a world filled with fools. Bear in mind
that a fool is not someone who is stupid or the like. Foolishness begins as a
moral quality. It's about someone who refuses to live according to God's Law.
Because of that refusal, this person has no understanding of how life really
works. How could he. In this sense he is foolish. Along with rebelling against
God and His ways, the fool also attacks the people of God in various ways.
However, God sees all that is happening. He assures us that there will be
justice. God will powerfully condemn the fools and restore the well-being of
His people. That will be a time of rejoicing and great happiness.
