For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7
Here's one thought from this verse. As we live each day, confronted by all sorts of issues and questions and problems, we need not be afraid. God has blessed us. He has done something in us so that we will be able to respond well to each of these different kinds of situations. We will have the power we need to do the difficult (and not wimp out), the love that we need to do what is good for others (instead of sinning against them) and the self-control that we need to keep our desires in check (so that we don't act impulsively and do something stupid). Whatever else might be included here, this verse means that we are able to face each day optimistically. This isn't because we know what is going to happen and are well prepared for each possibility. That's impossible. We are optimistic because of how our Father has blessed us with what we need for each day.
