We are
all going to die. That's something that way too many people try to ignore -
including, sadly, Christians. And that's not good. If we know that something is
going to happen - whether that's a large bill coming due, an important birthday
to be celebrated, or dying - then it just makes sense to prepare for it.
So, how
does one prepare for death? Here's one thought: make it something you pray
about regularly. Here is some Bible to think about and then discuss with the
Father in preparation of your death.
On the
importance of gaining wisdom while alive:
So teach us to number
our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. Psalms 90:12
On
taking what we have learned about the wonder of God and passing it on to the
next generation:
O God, from my youth you have
taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. So even to old age and
gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another
generation, your power to all those to come. Psalm 71.17-18
On how
we are to serve Jesus both in how we live and in how we die:
For
none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. For if we live, we
live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live
or whether we die, we are the Lord's. Romans 14:7-8
