Tornadoes

'Tornadoes Rip Through Midwest'. That's the headline. And after a brief response of concern, many, not in the Midwest, return to what they were doing - unless they can put some faces to 'Midwest'. While none of my children in the 'Midwest' were harmed by the tornadoes, some of their friends and relatives were affected to one degree or another. And I know some of their faces.

One question to pose at a time like this goes something like, 'Does God know what He's doing?' The question assumes that, in one way or other, He's behind what has happened, that He's the one who brought some very real terror into the lives of lots of people. And that, of course, it true. I've never been even close to a tornado, but I imagine that surviving one, even physically untouched, still leaves a few scars. God did that. Why? Does He consider how such things affect people? Does He know what He's doing?

Our world is filled with evil and suffering of all sorts. All under God's control. It seems to me that the only way to handle it without becoming unfeeling, is to say, 'Yes, my God knows what He's doing'.
