Until there was no remedy

I read this during this morning's Bible reading:

But they kept mocking the messengers of God, despising his words and scoffing at his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord rose against his people, until there was no remedy. (2 Chronicles 36:16)
I was struck by the last phrase, 'until there was no remedy.' There comes a point when not even God will forgive. His only option is wrath - even when it comes to His people. How sobering.
